Gladstone PAWS Last Litter Form
If you have a mother cat or dog with a litter and want to do the right thing by both mum and her babies, our Last Litter Program may be able to help.
This program is designed to prevent future unwanted litters while ensuring the mother and her offspring receive the care they need.
The ideal age for puppies and kittens to leave their mother is 8 weeks old. Once the litter reaches this age, the mother’s owner surrenders the litter to Gladstone PAWS. We then provide full veterinary care for the puppies or kittens, including:
• Health checks
• Vaccinations
• Microchipping
• Desexing
The litter is then adopted into carefully selected forever homes.
As part of the program, the mother is booked in for desexing at no cost to the owner.
Program Details
• Available for both dogs and cats
• No cost to the owner
• Gladstone PAWS arranges all bookings
• The litter becomes the property of Gladstone PAWS and will be rehomed through our rescue program
• The mother remains the owner’s property and is desexed at Gladstone PAWS’ expense
• Available to residents within the Gladstone region, including Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Calliope and surrounding areas
If you are struggling to care for the mother and litter, we may be able to assist with temporary foster care until the litter is old enough for adoption and the mother has been desexed. Following recovery, the mother would then be returned to you. Please note this is dependent on foster carer availability at the time.
In most cases, owners will be responsible for transporting the mother to and from our partnered veterinary clinic for her desexing appointment.
